How did I earn my IRONMAN title in 2019/09 at the age of 59 after 10 years of injury-free races in triathlon and marathon, free of any diseases, under zero medication, and at the same time hold full-time senior management jobs at two of the largest corporations in Taiwan, including one Fortune Global 100 company? Even if you have curated sufficient information from today’s leading anti-aging scientists and functional medicine doctors, like I did, humble gaols such as losing 5% body fat may still be hard to reach. Why? Because information alone rarely moves a person. Change in behaviour and mindset is key. That’s where a health coach is most helpful, in ways anti-aging scientists, medical doctors, and registered dietitians are not trained in their professions to guide and support you. Coaching engagements with me typically consist of 5 to 7 weekly 45-60 minute sessions on ZOOM and in English only. (My service will be expanded to include Mandarin in 2021). I already have four “practice clients”, two in the U.S., one in Singapore and one in Taiwan. I have the capacity to take a few more.

Note 1: This does not mean health coaches do not posses or share health/diet information with the clients. In ADAPT HCTP, we are trained to be on the same page (hence cooperate) with medical doctors and dieticians in regards to knowledge in functional health. We may not have mastered some medical science as in-depth down to the cellular-biological level, yet we most likely are more experienced in helping the clients adapt to the recommendations from the doctors and dieticians. Sharing information is expected. But we are trained to be prudent when sharing information, as sharing too much information too soon can get into the way a coach help the client make the change.

I am currently in the 11th month of the ADAPT Health Coach Training Program, an NBHWC-approved training course (NBHWC stands for “National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching”). I already finished the pre-practicum in June, 2020 and am approaching the end of the practicum phase, when our focus is on practicing with clients. So I am offering my coaching as a free service to my “practice clients” until I finish the one-year program at the end of November, 2020.
